IELTS Reading | Part - I

বেশ কিছু পরীক্ষার্থীর কাছে শুনে মনে হয়েছে রিডিং সেকশনটা অনেকের কাছেই IELTS/TOEFL এর সবচেয়ে কঠিন অংশ। তবে আমার মতে, এই সেকশনে ভালো করা তুলনামূলক ভাবে সহজ। অন্তত ব্যক্তিগত অভিজ্ঞতায় তাই মনে হয়েছে।
এই সেকশনের সুবিধাঃ সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর যেহেতু প্যাসেজ এর মধ্যেই খুঁজে পাওয়া যায়, এই সেকশনে  উত্তর ভুল হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা কম।
অসুবিধাঃ হটাৎ করে ভালো করে ফেলা সম্ভব না, ইম্প্রুভ করতে সময় লাগে। সবচেয়ে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ হল নির্ধারিত সময়ে প্যাসেজ পড়ে শেষ করা।

করনীয়ঃ
১। রিডিং এ ভালো করার জন্য পড়ার বিকল্প নেই। বারবার অনুশীলন করে (কেমব্রিজ বা অন্যান্য বই) স্কোর কিছুটা ভালো করা সম্ভব, কিন্তু বড় স্কেলে উন্নতির জন্য বেশি বেশি ইংরেজী পড়তেই হবে। যদি আপনার লক্ষ্য থাকে স্কোর ২৮ থেকে ৩২ করবেন, তাহলে বারবার পরীক্ষা দিয়ে, কিছু শর্টকাট অনুসরণ করে তা করতে পারবেন। তবে যদি লক্ষ্য হয় ২৮ থেকে ৩৮, তাহলে আপনার রিডিং স্কিল বাড়ানো ছাড়া উপায় নেই। আর এর জন্য প্রতিদিন কিছু না কিছু ইংরেজী পড়া দরকার। গল্পের বই, পত্রিকা, ম্যাগাজিন, ব্লগ পোস্ট- যা ভালো লাগে অন্তত ২০-৩০ মিনিট পড়লে রিডিং স্পীড বাড়বে। পাশাপাশি, পড়ে বুঝার ক্ষমতাও বাড়বে।

GRE প্রস্তুতি - Dos and Don'ts

জিআরই ৩১৫+ স্কোর তোলা খুব একটা কঠিন ব্যাপার না যদি প্লানমাফিক প্রস্তুতি নেওয়া হয়। কোন ব্যাপারে জোর দেওয়া লাগবে আর কি ম্যাটেরিয়ালস ফলো করতে হবে মাথায় রাখলে ৪-৬ মাসে ভালো স্কোর তোলা সম্ভব :)

১। প্রচুর ওয়ার্ড মুখস্ত করার প্রতি কম জোর দেওয়ার পক্ষপাতি আমি। ৫০০০ ওয়ার্ড মুখস্ত করে ৩১০ ক্রস করতে না পারার মাল্টিপল রেকর্ড দেখেছি। একজন ৩০০০ ওয়ার্ড পড়ে ৩ বার জিআরই দিসে, ভারবাল স্কোর ১৪৬। ওয়ার্ড পড়ার দরকার আছে, বিশেষ করে SE & TC সেকশন এর জন্য। কিন্তু বাস্তবতা হলো কোন লিস্ট থেকে কমন পড়বে এইটা কেউ বলতে পারে না, এবং ৬ মাসে এত শব্দ পড়ে পরীক্ষার হলে উত্তর করা সহজ কাজ না। যাদের শব্দভাণ্ডার আগে থেকেই সমৃদ্ধ, তাদের জন্য সুবিধা, কারণ অনেক দিন ধরে জানা শব্দ আর নতুন শব্দের পার্থক্য আছে।

তাহলে করনীয় কি? যাদের সময় আছে হাতে, ইংরেজি বই, পত্রিকা, ম্যাগাজিন পড়া শুরু করা ভালো। এইটা RC, AWA, IELTS/TOEFL-Reading, Writing সব জায়গাতেই কাজে লাগবে। যাদের সময় কম, তারা অন্তত দিনে ৩০ মিনিট সময় রিডিং পড়ার জন্য রাখলে ভালো। 

IELTS Listening

লিসেনিং এ ভালো করা তুলনামূলক ভাবে সহজ। ইংরেজি মুভি, গান, সিরিয়াল, ইউটিউব ভিডিও দেখার+শোনার অভ্যাস থাকলে অল্প প্র্যাক্টিস করেই ৭.৫ - ৮ (এমনকি ৯ ও) তোলা সম্ভব।
যাদের অভ্যাস নেই, এখন থেকেই যত পারা যায় উপরোল্লিখিত কাজ গুলো করতে হবে। এইগুলোর পাশাপাশি নিচের স্টেপ গুলো অনুসরণ করলে পরীক্ষায় স্কোর বাড়বে।
- চেষ্টা করতে হবে মনযোগ যেন কোনভাবেই অন্যদিকে না যায়। বাকি ৩ সেকশনের চেয়ে অনেক বেশি একাগ্রতা দরকার এইখানে। কয়েক সেকেন্ডের জন্য অন্যমনস্ক হলেই ২-৩ টা প্রশ্ন মিস হয়ে যেতে পারে।
- লিসেনিং সেকশন এ প্রশ্ন শুরু হওয়ার আগে ছোট ইন্ট্রো থাকে, যেখানে ডায়ালগ সম্পর্কে বর্ণনা দেওয়া হয়। এই সময়ে পরিস্থিতি সম্পর্কে একটা ধারণা পেতে চেষ্টা করুন। কথা বলছে কারা? কোন জায়গায় কনভারসেশন হচ্ছে? কথা বলার টপিক কি?
- এছাড়াও, প্রতিটি সেকশনের আগে সময় দেওয়া হয় প্রশ্ন পড়ার জন্য। এই সময়ে প্রশ্ন পড়ে আগে থেকেই অডিও কেমন (টপিক, সেটিংস) হবে তার ধারনা করা যায়।

·  Connect PC0 and PC1 to Switch 0. Connect Switch0 to Fast Ethernet 0/0 port of the Main Router.

· Connect Laptop0 and Laptop1 to Switch 2. Connect Switch2 to Fast Ethernet 1/0 port of the Main Router.

Protocol	Commands	Remarks
RIPv2	Router(config)#router rip	Enables RIP as a routing protocol.
	Router(config-router)#version 2	RIP will now send and receive RIPv2 packets globally.
	Router(config-router)#network w.x.y.z	w.x.y.z is the network number of the directly connected network you want to advertise.
	Router(config-router)#no auto-summary	RIPv2 summarizes networks at the classful boundary. This command turns auto-summarization off.
	Router(config-router)#passive-interface s0/1	RIP updates will not be sent out this interface.
	Router(config-router)#default-information originate	Generates a default route into RIP.

Some Key Address Types Used in Networking

MAC Address
Media Access Control (MAC) address is the hard-coded address on the network interface controller (NIC) of the Physical layer node attached to the network.
Each MAC address must be unique and follow this format:
- It must consist of 48 bits.
- It must be displayed by 12 hexadecimal digits (0-9, A-F).
- The first 6 hexadecimal digits in the address is a vendor code or organizationally unique identifier (OUI) assigned by the NIC manufacturer.

This is an example of a MAC address: 00:00:07:A9:B2:EB

Signals and Linear Systems (EEE-3111): Special Suggestion for Midterm, Summer 2014

This suggestion does not guarantee A+, it just covers the most important questions.

Theory:

• Definitions: Signal, Systems, Classification of various signals, Basic system properties (Linearity, Causality etc.), Basic properties of LTI systems (Associative property, Distributive property etc.), PSD, Autocorrelation.
• Unit Step function and Unit Impulse function.
• Shifting property of unit impulse function.

Math:

• Shifting, Compressing a given signal (discussed in class in detail).
• Draw signals from given equations.
• Linearity, Time-invariance, Causality check of systems (examples and also exercises given in the last class).
• Power and Energy calculation of signals.
• Examples reviewed in class are VVI.

You'll have to answer 3 out of 4 questions.

Theory:

• Branches: R, L, C, RL (2 will come in the exam)
• Definitions: AC, Phasor, Period, Frequency, Angular Frequency, Phase, Phase Difference, Form Factor, Peak Factor etc.
• Calculation of Average & Effective value of a sinusoidal wave (discussed in last lecture)

Math:

• Phasor Algebra (at least 6 marks)
• Leading / Lagging (at least 5 marks)
• Impedance (Z) Calculation
• Determination of Period, Phase angle, Angular frequency etc. from a given wave
