CSE-3114/ CSE-3116: Basic Router Configuration via CLI

Today we are going to explore some basic Router configuration commands. We shall use Packet Tracer for this purpose. If you don't have it already, check this post: Computer Networks Introduction
Those of you need a little more familiarization with Packet Tracer, check this post.

Steps to follow:

1.  Open Packet Tracer and place a Router in the workspace. Use a 'Generic' model.

Basic LAN Configuration - Practice Topology

Download the Cisco Packet Tracer file (.pkt) and configure the Laptops and Desktops so that they all can communicate with each other.

Rules:

  1. Use your assigned IP address given in class.
  2. Find  (a) Network address,  (b) Broadcast address,  (c) Total number of users,  (d) First user's IP address and  (e) Last user's IP address.
  3. After the completion of configuration, use ping command to check connectivity.
  4. Save the file and send it to me via Email (nsadat@live.com)   or   Facebook.


How to proceed:

1. Connect the Desktops and Laptops with appropriate cables with the switch. Use FastEthernet ports.
