- Alternators: Construction, Theory of operation. Armature windings, Alternator regulation, Armature Reaction and reactance. Two Reaction Analysis, Transient condition of Alternator. Losses and efficiency, Synchronising and load sharing of alternator.
- Induction Motor: General principles, Construction, Rotating magnetic field, Equivalent circuits, Squirrel cage and slip ring motors. Maximum starting torque. Starting methods. Speed variation methods. Tests for ploy phase motors. Determination of constants from test data. Losses and efficiency,. Circle diagram, Harmonics in the air gap flux. Induction Generator.
